The GAP Project offers GenZers a chance to enter political campaigns on the ground floor. Volunteering and interning on a campaign, especially on the local and state levels, gives GenZers the chance to accomplish meaningful tasks that will help move the candidate and community forward.
The current COVID-19 pandemic and systemic racism have both shed light on the importance of young people in making a difference in our country. Get acting and work with a campaign that aligns with your interests, skills and values.

Which level of government is right for me?
Are you passionate about entering a campaign on the ground floor? Local or state politics might be for you! If you’re more interested in the bigger picture of government, then the national-level may be a better fit. No matter which level of government you choose, you will be fully immersed in a fast-paced experience.
What does volunteering entail?
Volunteering can take many forms, from making phone calls to knocking on doors to fundraising and anything in between. Working on a campaign is a constantly changing experience. As a volunteer, you will develop entrepreneurial skills like adaptability as well as time and task management. These skills, as well as the tasks you perform, will set you up for success in a variety of careers, not just politics.
What is the time commitment?
GAPers choose how much time they would like to dedicate to the campaign. For example, if you are taking a gap year, you may choose to volunteer full-time, whereas if you are attending school or working, you may choose to volunteer part-time. Once GAPers are placed, they will work with the campaign to determine how they will be most effective.
How will I be supported by campaign coordinators?
Campaign coordinators will be with you every step of the process. Once you fill out our quiz our campaign coordinators will meet with you virtually one-on-one to get to know you better. Then, once placed on a campaign, our campaign coordinators will provide GAPers with guidance, advice and mentorship during the campaign experience. We will also be hosting a monthly speaker series and offering virtual campaign workshops.
